Strange Boutique rose from the ashes of the DC punk scene surging with the energy of the burgeoning DC post-punk scene while embracing an unexpected sense of melody, texture and a bit of mystical color.

The group was a fixture of the DC club scene from 1987-1993, ... shows were a veritable gathering of DC's misfits, freaks, goths, punks, scenesters and dreamers. The band waved a bittersweet goodbye from the stage of the original Black Cat location in November 1993.

A pair of reunion shows in 2004 and 2019 along with Monica Richards' success in beloved goth act, Faith and the Muse, kept interest in the band alive. Now, thanks to the perpetual, viral nature of social media and a growing interest in post-punk music, a new generation of ears have stumbled upon Strange Boutique.

Join us as a revamped Strange Boutique (Monica Richards, Steve Willett, Dennis Kane and David Christian) return to Black Cat to perform some of their most loved songs and celebrate the June release of their new album, "Let the Lonely Heart Sing", featuring "The Night Birds".
